Where to go, what to bring?

Club Tutorials

  • Venue location will be advised  booking below if required.
  • 9am for 9.30am start with finish generally 2.30pm
  •  Tea and Coffee is included but bring your lunch
  • A small table, easel and dropsheet (if you have them) 
  • Specific art materials as per Artist material list.


All levels of experience welcomed. We are all of us learners!

Where to go, what to bring?

September 20th Plein Air

This day will be a free day for members and non-members to come and try Plein Air (outdoor painting). 

Weather permitting

DATE: Saturday 20th September 

TIME: 9AM for a 9:30 AM start. Finishing around 3  

COST:               $NIL

VENUE:   South Lismore Railway Station
 

WHAT TO BRING:

Bear in mind: You will be carrying everything you bring to various viewpoints throughout the day, so keep it light. 

  • Art      materials: Drawing equipment. Light weight painting kit. Sketchbook      and or paper. 
  • Portable      Easel, if you have one and prefer to work that way, or clipboard. 
  • Lightweight      easy to carry chair or stool 
  • Rubbish      bag 
  • Hat      and Water
  • Bring      your own lunch or purchase from the bakery or Skimmo’s food van nearby. 

 The club has no facilities to make tea or coffee for this session. 

Brand new all abilities toilets available on site. 

  • Sketching      suggestions to follow for the day
        1. Quick loose sketches of a moving subject in pen. Perhaps people on      bikes it is the rail trail after all.
        2. Subject matter choice, slightly longer timed sketch. Choosing a subject      and zooming in on it to find interesting stories from ordinary      scenes. 
        3. Tonal Study in watercolour. 
        4. Watercolour painting of a scene of our choice.
        5. Pen drawing in more detail.
        6. Quick silhouette painting of person/people
  • We      will stay on the road side of the building.  There are some lovely old      shops opposite the station that you might like to paint.

BOOKING: No need to book. If you know someone who would like to come along, please pass on the details.  They are most welcome to attend.

Venue: Lismore Show Grounds Norma's Kitchen

Via the lower entry to Show Grounds (market will be on the left), straight ahead, the Elders sign is on the Norma's Kitchen building. Entry is to the right hand side, unload and then find a park.

The hall is approximately a 10-minute drive from Lismore, along Dunoon Road.  The hall also has a fridge & microwave, toilets on site, wheelchair accessible and there is plenty of parking.

Greeting cards for 2025

Fun Greeting Card painting days

We create greeting cards (good to practice our painting skills) to promote and make a bit of money for the Club.


  • Friday mornings 
  • Venue Flourish Gallery 15 Casino St South Lismore
  • Most Friday mornings 10am to 12 noon 
  • Bring your materials e.g. paint, brushes
  • This is a free event to have fun, chat & paint


The Club can supply blank cards for painting however you may prefer to bring your own watercolour paper. Cards are sold at our annual Exhibition and at Sheila Turner’s Framing shop, The Strand Arcade. Molesworth St Lismore
