Anne Slade began painting nearly 20 years ago after she undertook and completed a four year Certificate Course in Painting and Drawing at Lismore TAFE College in 1988-91 where renowned local artists Vic Yeates and Michael Taylor were the tutors.
Their enthusiasm and expertise inspired Anne to join the Lismore Art Club and she has continued to be a member, having found that belonging to a group of like minded artists has helped to expand her love of working with the various art mediums. Attending the monthly tutorials has introduced her to the ideas of many leading artists and tutors, some of whom are well known throughout Australia and indeed the world.
Anne also regularly attends the excellent art workshops at Grafton’s Artsfest where both Australian and overseas tutors of pastel and watercolour have helped develop her passion for those mediums. She really loves painting trees with their individual growth and colours in the landscape where both pastel and watercolour can be used to develop the character of each tree.
Anne was born in Kyogle and has traveled extensively and now resides in Lismore. She has exhibited in group exhibitions at Lismore Art Gallery, Armisteads Gallery in Wyrallah Rd Lismore, and with the Lismore Art Club where she has been successful with sales and prizes. A solo exhibition recently resulted in several sales. Anne also won first prize for watercolour at the prestigious Charleville Art Show and has paintings in private collections in the United Kingdom, Japan and Australia.
